Ok AJM, totally with you on the mindset of spending money on the family needs without a second thought( I have 3 kids). Yep, I feel guilty when thinking about buying bits and pieces for myself and take ages trying to justify it too.
Example, I need a new wheelbarrow, my cordless drill is at the end of its life, I need a hedge trimmer, blah blah blah. Not exactly luxury items hey.
BUT, a new bull bar!!!! Allows you to mount spotlights/light bar which can make your vehicle safer by lighting up further down the road and importantly to the road sides, so if you spot bouncing obstacles you have more time to brake/avoid said obstacle. Especially important if towing families big pets.
Also ability to mount communications antenna for communicating with other road users when towing families big lovable pets.
If by chance you do strike a large object then you are less likely to be stranded with a vehicle that cannot get you home.
