Title: Forum's server has had a tune up
Post by: DannyG on Jun 03, 2020, 12:10:12 PM
We have just 'upgraded' our server plan to basically double or more our server resources.

So with the ECU remap, larger turbo and 5" exhaust we should be flying with hopefully zero errors!!

Please let me know if anyone gets any more errors.

Something new (or old) is censoring some words my posts?!?
Must be an add-on.

I checked our censored words list and there are not a lot of words in the list but all of them are words we probably dont feel that fit the family friendly rules. If you are being censored for a word that is ok to use in front of children or ladies let me know.

Hi Danny,

Let me see:
Some in this forum could be labelled as a bunch of crotchety old FARTS and any youngins better get off their lawns or else!

Update01: That above appeared not to have been censored.
Try again: Canberra is the capital of CENSORED SHOWS!

Update02: It was the word C.E.N.S.O.R.E.D.
I'm quite sure most kids in Primary School from the NT or Victoria in this day and age would consider the above word as banal.
But I would leave that word list alone  ;)

EDITED by Moderator - unnecessary foul language

Well, I guess I'm an old  fart , and reasonably broad-minded ......... but I'd prefer not to see the F word or the S word, or the MF word.
That's just me.

Cheers
Jim

Yep most of us around here could be considered old farts and I am also broad minded and quite possibly swear like a truck driver in certain crowds but I run a forum that is family friendly so we dont allow certain words.

It will always be very subjective as to what is considered acceptable when it comes to the words we use but the safe thing for me to do, is to be cautious and not allow swearing at all, regardless of how common some of it is.

Yes thanks for reminding me, Ill go and re-instate the changes I made that causes that issue and see if it now effects the actual forum.

Hi Danny

When posters put their message on a word document of some type. all I see is the page, and I'm unable to reply or do anything at all with the message  .... I just see a word document. I have a Mac.

eg MannoMUX post re his burnt clutch today

Cheers
Jim

Im not sure what you mean by word document? I can see mannos post and it looks like a regular post on my end? I am on a mac as well.

Can you post a screen shot of what you are seeing?

It's fine now, and other posts have eventually changed to be "normal" posts as well. I'll try to get a screenshot for you next time.
The result is, when I click on the post, I just see a page of print, as I said, just like a word document page. There's nothing else. So I can't reply or do anything.
It seems to sort itself out , usually within the day, so I really haven't a clue what's happening. It is just an odd post. It happened quite a bit with the great poster who told us all about setting up his canopy recently.

Anyway, I'll try to send you a shot next time.

Thanks
Jim

Ok Im pretty sure I know what you mean. Its like all the text has loaded but the rest of the website around it hasnt.
Thats pretty much possibly the same issue we have always had. Its a form of timing out, except you are getting some of the page before it times out.

When our current arrangement runs out with the existing server (US based) we are going to go onto an Australian server.

I'll still send a screenshot when it happens again ...... just so I learn how to send a screenshot !!

Yes, definitely a load issue.

My post was made directly into the forum from an iPad.
I saw similar issues (on other sites) last week while they were working on the NBN in our area.

The forum's currently travelling very well at this end after the upgrades. Idiosyncratic isn't it!
