Title: Ford Ranger Turbo failure
Post by: sdouglas on Jul 26, 2018, 12:11:14 AM
Dropped in to see the mechanic who does most of our service and repair work(Ambulance) yesterday and he had a Ford Ranger on the hoist. 2 years old and 160 000kms on the clock. Set up for touring. He pulled the Turbo out and the impellar shaft on the exhaust side had snapped. Lucky it wasn't the other side of the Turbo. Should have put this in the Off Topic section!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh, from northern Victoria. Looked like he was enjoying retirement. Tilt trayed it to Townsville today and getting new turbo on ASAP apparently. Mechanic doesn’t think much of the Rangers and reckons most people don’t buy a second one. I wonder how many other turbos have failed and what other brands use this particular model of turbo.

I thought the motors were blowing up long before the turbos fail.

I thought the DPF set the vehicle on fire before the engine blew!  :laughing7:
