Hi folks, I need some help with a JD 102. Last week, I was tearing around the paddock at high speed. This week, the poor thing can barely move forward or backward. There is nothing caught around the axle as far as I can tell. The engine fires up without a problem and the blades come on when activated. Just really struggles to move. Kind of stop start feeling g when it does crawl forward, almost like a belt is slipping.
Any ideas? It's a mates mower and I can't return it like it is.

Had a look on line and came up with

May be what's wrong, but maybe not.

Thanks Jim.googled before posting. Seems to be loads of vids on "not moving at all" mowers but none on "rally struggling to move" mowers.

OK. Thought the symptoms of little movement seemed similar, and replacing a wheel pin seemed pretty easy.
Good luck with the problem.

Brakes?
are they seizing on/not releasing fully.

Pretty sure the belt is the issue. Have just lifted it up to see how it all works. When the brake is released, it pulls on a triangular plate that has two pulley wheels attached. When the brake is on, the belt passes through the two pulleys. When it's released, it pulls one corner of the triangle which alters the position of the pulleys. So instead of a gentle traffic calmer style of long s bend when the brake is on, the belt travels through two really sharp, almost 90 deg angles.
Hope that's clearer than it sounds.
