Position is filled thanks.

mux339 works behind the background keeping the forums topics in the right places and keeps everything organised to which I am very thankful.

We will introduce a new helper soon who is going to help me with the admin side of dealing with sign ups and spammers.

Thanks again.

We have been getting hammered with spammers lately for some reason. Im getting 20 sign ups a day with dodgy emails which I am rejecting so I am sure I am accidentally rejecting genuine people as well.

But long story short, I installed some better anti spam protection and for some reason it stop anyone signing up. And after uninstalling the software it really messed things up so I backed up from the previous days back up.

And being at work I was trying to do all this on my phone during my breaks and I accidentally restored  the database as well as the files from the previous day, hence we lost a days worth of threads, sign ups, private messages etc.

I think its the first time in 10 years so we have been lucky.

Do you like to work for free?
Do you want a job where there is very little thanks or recognition?

If you answered yes to both those questions I have an offer for you  :toothy9:

I need someone or a few people to help me with the administration side of the forum.

Its not a huge job but it is a daily job and it involves approving new members and dealing with spammers and spam posts.

If you are enjoying the role and particularly the lack of pay and recognition there are other areas you can expand to within the forum to keep it clean, fast and secure!!

For the most part I handle these tasks quite easily myself but from time to time I go away for a few days and I am going on an extended holiday early next year so I really need to get someone else or a coupe of people trained up to look after the place in my absence.

Please note, this is not a moderators roles as such. I prefer to largely leave the forum unmoderated unless of course there are personal attacks or things get out of hand but that role is best left to me to deal with. I keep the forum family friendly for the most part and drama free.

It is purely a behind the scenes role.

If you're a bit computer savvy and or know a little about SMF forums in particular and you're keen to work for free then shoot me a PM  :laughing7:

Again I'm binge watching youtube via the google dongle plugged into the TV and saw this article from these two legends:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oInCXqTzsPE&t=663s

They also linked the article from the ABC
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-01-09/australian-cars-getting-bigger-should-government-intervene/103287604

I'm thinking the oversized yanktanks we are seeing would be a massive cause of this.
Seen many many pics on social media from angry people of these RAM trucks taking over a couple parking spots in tight car parks. And not towing anything or carrying tradies tools.

Even a few percent of $62 million is a sizeable chunk of change.  Anyway, he's upset the fanbois, and that's always entertaining lol.

After reading the comments, went back and had a look at his youtube channel.

Looked for an actual offroad trip that would give him some creds and got sick of scrolling his vids on youtube... a lot of car reviews and a 12 hour bitumen only trip.
I'd guess he makes his money from advertising, partnerships, etc.
This site explains some of it https://sproutsocial.com/insights/how-to-make-money-on-youtube/

I'd gather he's not a 4wd (or car expert) expert but someone trying to make an income.
Until he's done something worthwhile like gunshot creek, the Finke or worse in a modded fourbie, he has no real offroad experience.

Advertising is pretty much how everone on Youtube makes their money, but seeing as how he was an equity shareholder of caradvice.com.au when it was sold to channel 9 for something like $62 million, he's probably not struggling to make ends meet lol.
Yeah and what a great buy that was for Channel 9. They closed it less then 2 years later with the same clowns in charge! Not sure how much equity Maric had in it, as Car advice bought out his lone show with a percentage of it as payment. Definately enough to buy a Tesla!  :laughing7:
