Title: Whipper Snippers, recommendation who makes the sturdiest?
Post by: yvesjv on Mar 26, 2022, 07:00:55 AM
Hi all,

Have a bad shoulder that comes and goes and have to buy a whipper snipper to keep the edges under control.
The yard is approximately 800m2.
The Fun Minister being a farmers daughter from Vic recommends petrol.
What do you guys please recommend?

I bought an Ozito Bunnings cheapie about 6 months ago.    I'm impressed at it's cutting ability. The head spins a lot faster than the 2 stroke one I persevered with for years and is now waiting  for my next trip to the dump.    I favoured the Ozito because I already batteries, it uses  2 x 18V batteries.
No more mixing fuel, no more fouling spark plugs, no more swearing at it.

I bought my wife a  :icon_thumleft:Milwaukee 18 volt for Christmas. She loves it, I have not had to do the edges since.
Light, quiet, no smell, always starts. Bloody ripper

Go Battery
I had my makita dual battery combo kit blower and whipper snipper for 8+ years now
Still going strong. Plenty of power and very quite.
Can use them at night it no one will notice
Compared to my neighbours 2 and 4 stroke that annoy me on early mornings

Every year during hard rubbish collection days i see dozens of Ozito tools thrown out. Havnt seen any other brand thrown out like that.
One neighbour  had ozito whipper snipper blown out within 1 year, he managed to get replacement.
I think ryobi is bit better than ozito

I use a Bush Ranger whipper $300 plenty of power and if you get the straight shaft (giggity) you can also attach the included steel blade brush cutter attachment! The things a weapon...

I got a mower man. No fuel. No flat battery and it still cuts when I'm away.
The Victa mower and Echo whipper just gather dust now.  :hello2:

Thanks Guys.
Appears the only difference would be the battery powered are not as noisy.
But which type is best for a sore back shoulder?

I don't think there is much difference in weight but if you use a sholder strap to suport the weight you can tuck it in a bit closer as there is no hot motor to worry about.

Used the young fellas Makita one yesterday, which was single line... not the best. The battery power was ok, but you want a 6AH battery to keep it strong, and want a dual line one.

The one that someone else is using to do your edges.
