Just after some first hand info on swags. I have recently been doing a few weekend camping trips and Im over taking my 6 person instant up tent just for myself to sleep in, as it usually rains and setting up the tent to dry at home is a pita. With a swag I could hang it up in the shed to dry. I also have around the $300ish mark to spend. Are the Anaconda brand Dune 4wd any good? They are 40% atm.
Thanks
Michael

I have one of the Dune 4wd swags and the only problem with it is condensation forms overnight. Need to keep vents at foot and head ends open. Think most swags would have the same problem.

Maybe look at a cot tent..gets you off the ground and a bit more comfy

Jet bunkers are good bit of kit. Bulky though

I use a strecher in the tent so I could always put a swag on top of that.

I use a swag that I suspect is very similar to the anaconda dune swag and it is fine.
Sure it doesn't use Aussie canvas but it is definitely weather proof and the price was right.

Ive got my eyes on 2 Darche swags, just not sure which 1. Either the Dusk to Dawn 1100 or Dirty Dee 1100. There is only $20 difference. I like how the dirty dee packs up smaller

I use this swag, it's a cheap eBay so it's different to those but still Chinese made. I have had no problems with it.

We have come full circle with our camp sleep needs....started with swags when young, moved to tent, then family tent which evolved into a family soft floor camper.
We are now back to a less is more approach to camping and camp sleeping....
We are in a Southerncross King dome swag now with the provided mattress removed and 2x Zempire bomber pad SIM's in their place...AWESOME nights sleep :cup:
Warm/Clear night = swag on the ground
Staying for a couple of nights in one spot we put the swag on a double Kwik-cot....
If it's cold/wet we are on the ground we put the swag on 8x foam camping tiles with one of the cheap kings awning walls overhead to keep the vast majority of weather of the swag for easier use & pack up. :icon_thumleft:

We like the swag as it gives loads of options from all the usual camp sleeping and at times when you need to camp behind the bollards in National Parks to staying in mates sheds for parties and overnighting with friends in their home when short on beds.

We have a Darche Dusk to Dawn 1400, a Darche AWOL 1100 and a Roo Systems 1550 (same as the Dusk to dawn)
The larger swags are great for room wether you're on your own or with the missus, harder to roll up (2 person job, forget it on your own)
The AWOL we put on a Darche 1100 wide stretcher, perfect fit although I'm not a huge fan of it as where the canvas meets the head end there is no zip, only velcro so it's hard to get a good seal against rain, but it's usually set up under an awning so we don't worry too much about it.
Always leave an end or both open for airflow to reduce condensation, with a decent sleeping bag you'll be as warm as toast.
(We have 2 Darche Cold Mountain 0deg bags and 2 Cold Mountain -12deg bags-1100mm wide)
All three swags are waterproof and comfy enough on the ground, better on a stretcher.

Thanks for all the replies. I ended up ordering a Darche dirty dee 1100. It was either the dirty dee or dusk to dawn. Thing I like about its got the middle hoop.

Thinking about getting the Dirty Dee myself, are you happy with it
-
Im very happy with it. Nice thick canvas, 50mm foam is comfy and its roomy. Plus it comes with a storage bag. Ive got a black wolf all seasons king size sleeping bag and when rolled up in the swag just fits in the bag.

Stretcher, self inflating mattress and swag = nighty night. :occasion14:
