Title: Engine Wash
Post by: dlncooke on Sep 11, 2015, 01:33:40 PM
Just wondering who degreases and washes their engine bay,
If so what are you using.

Cheers

Dave I've always used a truck wash like CT18 for areas that I can't really wash properly with a sponge because it strips the dirt off.
Some people find it a bit harsh but I've never had an issue.
I also like to give everything a real light silicon spray. Not because it makes the engine bay look brand new again (although I do like the new look) but because it makes cleaning it next time a lot easier.

I know this method is hated by some but it works for me.

I spray a bit of degreaser around the dirtiest areas and then wash with warm soapy water and a chux type of cloth. Then rinse with a light spray from the garden hose. Do this once every 6 months and there shouldn't be a need for anything more severe. I avoid getting the under bonnet insulation to overly wet.

Cheers
Martin.
