Torches

What do you swear by? The trusty old mag lite has gone to the great spotlight in the sky. It's time for a new one. I am looking for a super bright, focusable (is that even a word), hand held torch that will still be bright at a distance. Oh, did I mention inexpensive? Not cheap, just definite value for money.

For that purpose I use OLIGHT. Not cheap but excellent light. I use them at work for bush work and hunting and for me torches must be reliable.

All other hand held and head torches we use are Led Lenser.

OldMucks:
i use 3 torches.
1.  A ledlenser p7 uses 4- AAA batt. about $100
2 A Dereelight uses 18650 batt about $120 throws a spot about 200 meters.
3 A Fenik tk40 uses 8-AA batt. $200+ but throws a lot of light. Light up your back yard no trouble.
But you can buy a led Maglite for about $52.

VALKIE:
I have a 50mm ARLEC 200 lumen rechargeable torch that charges from a sub port.
I think it's brilliant.
Good light and throws it quite some distance.
Lasts quite a while too.....about $25.00

I recently saw a couple more ARLEC torches in Bunnings.
Range fro $35.00 to over $100.00
400 lumen up to 1000 lumen.
Haven't bought one yet, but if they are half as good as the little one, it will be a good buy.

I also have a 100,000 lumen Firestorm, I bought in China years ago.
Don't know it's true output, the Chinese tent to exaggerate a little.
BUT that thing can outshine any Hella halogen light there is.
I can light up an object about 1klm away.
Have not seen one anywhere else since, AND GETS QUITE HOT AFTER ABOUT 1/2 HOUR.
The batteries are rechargeable but it takes a while, it lasts about an hour on full volume or 5 hours on low.

I've seen a 100,000 lumen hand held torch for 1299.00 on Amazon. That's way too much. Way too much cost and way too much light. The magnitude is the four d battery one; can't remember what I paid for it. It's great for our place as it allows me to stand on the verandah and light up the back fence to see which cow/s is/are out.  Distance is about two hundred + metres, maybe less.

Led lenser seems to be the way to go but thought I'd check what others have first
