Why is it that when you see a flat top tow truck with a vehicle on it you dont notice what type of vehicle it is till its a JEEP? :laughing4:

My sister bought a Jeep some years ago, carried on with the advertising nonsense "I bought a Jeep" and then got rid of it a year later cause it kept breaking. We all pulled the p*ss out of her for that decision.

our neighbors bought a couple of jeeps.

But on any given day, one or more was off the road for one thing or another.

They have gone on to Chrysler now, slight improvement

I see a fair amount of Ford Rangers on flat beds being taken off Fraser Island, Inskip, Double Island Point and Teewah beach.
When I’m bored I sometimes go to Inskip Point just to watch how people drive on sand.
It’s sometimes very entertaining.
Mainly Big Lifts, Big Tyres and BIG EGO’s.

A bit like boat ramps. Always good for a little light entertainment.

Is that the 2.0lt version with 10 speed box? I didn't like driving one myself, and I figure the smaller capacity engine with more reliance on a second turbo was just insane for offroad driving.

Oh aren't they just.

I especially like the xmas break when people head for the boat ramps after leaving their boat sitting for 12 months.
My wife and I had it down pat.
We would prep the boat before we actually took to the ramp.
She hopped in and I backed the trailer into the water, when it was deep enough she started the motor and tooted the horn
I jumped out, pulled the pin on the shackle and the boat slipped into the water.
I then parked the trailer while she brought the boat up to the Wharf or onto the sand
3-5 min max.

Getting out, I jump off the boat onto the wharf or sand and get the car.
Backed the trailer into the water and she drove the boat on.
I put the pin in the shackle, sometime had to wind the winch once or twice and then drove the boat off to the washdown area.  Again 3-5 min max.

The truly sad part was that she could actually park up the boat better than I could, never once banging the wharf or running off the trailer.

Left a lot of people dumbfounded and with their mouths open.
It was a 6 meter boat of over 1500kg.

I’m not sure which of the Ford Ranger models seems to be the one that gets towed the most.
One thing I do notice is a lot of people wait until they get bogged before dropping tyre pressures.
I regularly have to drive a Landcruiser Ambulance on the beaches here at all times of the day and night and
can’t afford to get bogged so like to think I go prepared. I’m certainly no expert at off-road driving though.
I also go down to the boat ramps here regularly ( I like to look at the water everyday, good for stress levels) and notice the more experienced boaties don’t seem to have much tolerance for the newbies. Which is a bit disappointing.
Cheers Shane

Hey sdouglas, best photo I've ever seen, my brother took on Fraser.
Just before dawn we had a massive down pour on low tide. James and I went down to the beach to watch the whales frolicking at sunrise. Along came an Ambo, leaving a singular pair of tyre tracks on the beach. But the texture of the sand from the rain storm was unique. I have those photos as screen savers on both pc & phone.
Love ya work bro, you're literally, a life saver.

WOW. Isolated Fraser is not something you see often. Enjoy.

Rangers, nice shiny Rangers on the local RAC recovery vehicle over here in the midwest of WA. After that, it seems to get indiscriminate, although Jeeps , Range Rovers and 200 series are , perhaps, over represented.
