Dunno if anyone has done anything but I'm now connecting reliably and noticably faster this morning.

No there has been nothing done at this end as I am not sure what I can do!!

I am hoping the IT people on here can offer some more advise based on what the server experts told me?

The really odd this is, I have never had a connection issue getting on this site. My internet at home is super slow at times at the moment, so bad in fact that I have to tether my phone on 4g to get connection to some sites....but never this one.

Danny, maybe you don't need to do anything.   I suspect wherever the problem was it has been corrected.

I just did another tracert and it looks a bit different to one I did on Sunday. Not so may timeouts

No I don't think so. At my end there is currently a noticeable delay of about 5-10 secs accessing the site, and 1-3 second delay loading pages say 50% of the time. The other 50% is slick and fast - instant.

The "problem" is still there, though it's one I can easily live with.

Im still trying to ascertain if the problem is at our end and hence I should be able to rectify it or if it is brought about due to the overload on ISP's at the moment??

No idea Danny. All I can say is that there are no internet overload issues at my end, with iiNet as my ISP.

No idea Danny. All I can say is that there are no internet overload issues at my end, with iiNet as my ISP.

My concern is that the issue may be out of our hands.

If you look at the tracerts it appears as though our ISP's are bouncing us all over the place before we reach the godaddy servers.
And in most instances the issue appears to start straight away at the very first hops and continues to escalate all the way until it gets to our servers.

So I dont think there is a thing we can do about the issue at this stage in time as we have zero control over how many or where the hops are between our homes and our server. And right at the moment there could be and evidence is showing, there is overload everywhere.

Or am I reading all this wrong?  :laughing7:

I can put us on a different server but I dont want to go through the trouble to do so if the issue is going to be exactly the same.

1. My concern is that the issue may be out of our hands.

2. If you look at the tracerts it appears as though our ISP's are bouncing us all over the place before we reach the godaddy servers.
3. And in most instances the issue appears to start straight away at the very first hops and continues to escalate all the way until it gets to our servers.

4. So I dont think there is a thing we can do about the issue at this stage in time as we have zero control over how many or where the hops are between our homes and our server. And right at the moment there could be and evidence is showing, there is overload everywhere.

5. Or am I reading all this wrong?  :laughing7:

6. I can put us on a different server but I dont want to go through the trouble to do so if the issue is going to be exactly the same.

1. Agreed...most likely situation.

2. I thought that was the way the internet worked anyway.

3. Can't comment as I do not have the knowledge to interpret the tracerts.

4. You are possibly right...(that's a numpty comment, not a professional one)

5. Probably not. You are better at this stuff than many of us. How about a call to Binary Man?

6. My gut feel is to hold off from radical action, and see how the situation continues to develop. We don't want to be spending too much time or money trying to resolve something that is a marginal issue. (For the people that time-out a lot, I appreciate it might not be so marginal.)

Question: How many users are regularly affected by time-outs?

I'm still affected by the random timeouts... doh.

It's a tough one, but i would suggest it's a routing issue at their end and the right level of support to investigate would be their Level 3 engineers.
It may take a lot of arguing with their Level 1 phone line support to escalate the ticket....

How much would it cost to relocate the www.ozisuzu.com.au server/database/dcerts/domain/etc to aws or similar?
I'd buy a few items to support that.

In my case it's improved from aroun 15% success rate up until yesterday  to 100% success rate today.

I read that streaming outlets like netflix etc have increased their compression to save bandwidth. That may have an overall effect on the internet generally.  Dunno

Thanks for the info and generous offers of financial help (we have had a few offers privately) however it is not about the cost.

Sure I dont want to be outlaying massive amounts of money for a dedicated Australian server if it is not nescasary, so in that way it is about money but I am prepared to cross that bridge when we come to it.

I do understand that there will come a day when we have outgrown our shared server capacity but I am not convinced this is the case with the issue we are having at the moment. Our server stats suggest we are well within our all our capacities.

I have spent a fair amount of time researching the current situation in regards to the world being home and using massive amounts of bandwidth, and connection issues and/or slow downs are very common at the moment, world wide......or at least in countries with poor internet ;)

So I think the best approach at this stage is to ride it out for a while. I am hoping those that are effected are not effected to the point where it is so unbearable they leave us.

I genuinely do apologise for the inconvenience. I will keep pestering godaddy in the back ground and see if they are able to monitor things at their end and ultimately help us out, but I am not holding out a lot of hope.

When I'm out of hospital and not sleeping 23 hrs a day. I'll  have a good  look into it.
Everybody will have a different trace route to the web server.
If there are routing problems inside godaddy we can raise this and get them to check.
If there are routing problems with an isp we could get godaddy to raise it with the carrier as it will effect all traffic on that trunk.
When I looked at it it was something totally different.
When I feel up to it I'll do some research.
Sorry that's the best I can offer at the moment.
If you wish to reach out and contact me, you are most welcome.

Danny and everyone else,

You've done it!  :cup:
No timeouts for me this morning, someone must have looked at their routing from the info Danny provided and the 'ahem' gentle noises made over the phone to their support.

Checked with traceroute and the output is now filtered once the hop reaches Singapour...  :BangHead:
5  be3.core1.sg1-equinix.sin.aussiebb.net (180.150.2.85)  111.592 ms  111.602 ms  112.042 ms

The IPs highlited in bold are from the RFC1918 ranges, usually internally used and not to be leaked on the public www.  :sad10:

But hey... timeouts are gone this morning. :headbang:
Let's keep an eye on it for a short while.
