'might be worth a read for those who hasn't come across this article.    :icon_study:
Snatch straps commonly available in the OZ market were lined up and tested to its limit.

Interesting read...  :read:

Thanks, interesting to read that there's so much variation between them all.

At the IVenture event, they recommended using two snatch straps, primary so that the vehicle you pulling out doesn't end up in your rear!

From memory they recommended the 8 tonne snatch straps for the MU-X.

In series or parallel? Guessing in series..
Why don't the straps just come in longer sizes then, if it's common to use two at once?

In series.

Another plus point if you have two straps, is that it allows for you to place some of it out of the right of the bogged driver (the point in the middle where both were joined), so that they can watch for when it starts to move. That's about the point when the bogged driver should start giving some right foot.

Big coin for an Oztrail strap when you consider the price of the majority of their other products

We have a 11,000kg ARB for Car and camper......and a 8000kg Bushranger for car only that lives in with the main recovery kit when we go away and likely to need recovery gear.

Day to day there is a Ironman 8000kg and 2x 3.75T shackles that live in the car under the floor in the back for just in case moments  :laughing7:

'funny thing was, I have both the best  :icon_thumright: and the worst  :sad10: !

trivia: Also noticed that a certain 4wd shop removed the worst performing snatch strap from their recovery pack and now just calls it a winch pack.

Cheers!

Me too, they will swap it for new 'better' one. Ive used it before - not a major recovery, only on sand and it did the trick. Didnt see any damage?? I only bought it coz the recovery pack came free with the uniden radios.

Which is not available until 1/8/15. Obviously the colour change is so the inferior orange product can be identified. Interesting they say in their letter its a voluntary re-call after their own testing BUT I read it was a ACCC directive

I am going to get the ARB 8000 & 11000 since I now have a CT and I'll keep the Red replacement as a spare or to use in conjunction with the ARB 8000. I think its the stretch thats equally as important as strength because from my observation at the I Venture day its the elasticity that helps to recover the bogged vehicle and takes the jolt out of the tow points on both vehicles. This is possibly another reason why 2 joined together are used ? as well as getting the extra distance between the 2 cars

FYi

Here's the link to the ACCC product recall for the Hercules 8,000 kg & 11,000 kg Snatch Strap.

'don't take any chances, return them for a replacement.

Cheers!
