I have had it with the way Google hijacks mobile phones. If I drop my Google setup a lot of the functions will not work as a Google account is required. If I delete photos off the mobile it deletes them off your computer too. Even Telstra cannot help. Samsung mobile. I hate Bixby even more.and it seems you cannot delete or block it either. OK I could move to Apple but don't really want that.  Rant over, but the situation is that having downloaded all the photos to computer you have to transfer them to a usb drive, delete from phone and computer and reinstall from usb drive. Darn I have so many!!

Are you using Google Photos? There is a "Delete From Device" option in the⋮menu at the top-right of the screen. You will still see the photos (assuming they have been synced) but they are no longer stored locally and taking up space.
