Unexpected Forum Outage
« on: Jun 18, 2018, 12:30:58 AM »
Some of you may have noticed an outage from around 6pm until midnight last night on Sunday the 17th.

Apologies for that, it appears as though we had an infinite loop of redirects happening causing the site to not load in some instances.

Ill ring our server help line at some stage and try and figure why it happened, hopefully it wont happen again.

Soooo we have had a day or two down again!!

I am not 100% sure if have lost anything but it shouldnt be much.

Again I apologise for the delay, it happened at the worst time for me. I was under the pump at work and in my normal life in a big way in regards to getting any time to sort it out.

The positive thing is that at least as these issues arise I am learning more about the forum software and how it needs to interact with servers. Its not my thing to be honest, all this technical stuff but luckily the 'internet' has been my friend in this instance.

Its odd that even though it is only a forum it was bothering me for the last day or so while it was down that there was nothing I could do about it.

We are in the process of building a house and dealing with the bank and builder etc so I have had an epic amount of things to occupy my mind luckily....or unluckily!

Good work getting it backup!  :icon_thumleft:

On the bright side hopefully you've learned something to help avoid or reduce future outages.

It looks like nearly everybody sympathises with Mr Gelston. Well I just think it's bloody outageous. The thread should be re-titled Unexpected Forum Outrage...and we should all get a free Ozisuzu stubby holder complete with ice cold beer.  :tongue1:
