I Venture Club.
« on: Feb 03, 2018, 09:28:11 AM »
I see the IV Club has turned into a money making thing rather than a promotional type of exercise.
The latest invite....3 days or nights up the High Country with a guide of some sort...go for a drive...i think food was included...at least dinner...1 car and 2 people....hand over $2,000. :dontknow:
I guess that is the way of the world. Makes my Kimberly cruise look like fairly reasonable value really.
BUT... on the bright side is was good to get a letter offering me $100 credit on my next service.  :headbang:
My stealer is really fantastic and charges me only for work done and not the schedule. My services have been as low as $120 INCLUDING a new oil filter. As i have to get the wheel bearings checked next service this will be good.  :icon_thumleft:

If going on one of those IV events to High Country can you just send a picture of a Bitcoin as payment?$2000 in real money is extreeeeemely expensive.

For $2000 you can buy offroad tyres and a suitable GPS and find your own way. Jackofjr will give you some pointers where to go.

Should be called Hlton High Country at that price.

Umm, bit more than what you were saying Jeeves/Silver

FOUR DAYS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:

· 1 NIGHTS ACCOMMODATION AT HIGH COUNTRY MOTOR INN, BRIGHT
· 2 NIGHTS ACCOMMODATION AT MANSFIELD MOTEL
· ALL MEALS & NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES INCLUDED
· EXPERT 4WD AND LOCAL GUIDE, VIC WIDMAN
· 4WD GURU AND I-VENTURE CLUB TRAINER, DAVID WILSON

(Sorry, CAPS due to cut and paste from email)

Not bad value for two adults, four days of escorted driving, three nights accomodation and all meals.

AH, that makes it different, the accomodation is down in the low country not the high stuff.
Mansfield is only close to a 100m higher than central Vic. ie up hill slightly.
$2000 in 4 days over 3 nights is still a fair whack, some people must have $$$ to burn if that is what is normal.
You cover their repairs, but they don't covers yours.

Yeah...i did short change it a bit .....but...on my figuring the cost of food and accommodation would be no more than $1k. I am getting 3 nights in Broome for $390 so add some on for food and i reckon you are paying $1,000 for driving around with an escort.
Anyway...i'm not going so i don't care what it costs (it would cost me $200 to do a similar thing, but i can be up the mountains in 3 hours or less)..or as said...just ring jacko and go for a drive!! :laughing7: or better still... Jackos fully escorted, High Country Adventure Tours. No food, no accomodation, heaps of swearing, points of interest ( this is where i broke my CV shaft....here is another one....and here...and), and if you break down..bad luck...should have bought a 1950's HiLux!! :laughing7: All for just $1,000. A bargain.
It is still getting away from the original IV club i reckon. It started at $200 for a day with some bugger teaching you how to do some 4x4 driving and then went to $250 and now $2,000.  Coming soon...fully escorted trips to the Kimberley for JUST $25,000.

Agree, it is over priced and out of my league.  But I bet they won’t have any problems filling the trip.

That is hilarious  :laughing7: :laughing7:

Come on Jeeves we didn't break anything on that trip , you got to use ya Winch for the first time , also caught ya first Brown Trout , camped by a pristine mountain stream , saw a great Highcountry Thunder storm , had a look at some history the old Water Wheel dating back to the Gold Mining days , you had to wonder how the old timers got all that heavy gear in there ,

I could organise a great trip , might even get my mate Big Wadey to come ( you know him  he weighed ya Ute ) you should see what he can knock up in a camp oven , 5 star meals .

What's this Motor Inn , Motel , BS , that means no campfire , that's not a Highcountry trip , all it would cost is your time ,  fuel and some tucker . The camp oven feed would be on me ( NC )
I have all the gear and even a spare CV .

Oh by the way Wadey is a accredited 4WD trainer  and that would be NC if you wanted it .

Sounds like a great trip to me, I'll come, I'll even bring a spare OEM CV and a couple of Tie Rod ends   :icon_thumleft:
