From factory I was getting 8.5 city. Once 265/75/16 and bull bar went it went to 10.5.
Remapped ECU now gives 7.5 city.

Cheers Glen

It isn't the weight of the tyre which increases the fuel comsumption, it is the rolling resistance and the width which affects it.
If the additional tyre weight over what the OE tyres are, then an additonal person in your vehicle would use around 2 extra litres to carry them. With another person you would begin to need a long range tank not to mention towing or carrying a load.

Doesn't weight increase rolling resistance?

Yes it does, but the weight difference between OE tyres and KM2 tyres is pretty insignificant when compared to adding one persons effect on economy. One extra person you may not notice any difference at all, but saying the tyre weight difference which is far less than an additional person changes it quite a bit. Therefore the tyre weight difference isn't a measurable thing. The width, dia, lug pattern and it's rolling resistance do have an effect on economy.

If nothing but the width of the tyre is the change then the vehicle will use more fuel purely because of the width.

Since new, I've averaged 9-10L per 100s, I've read that DPF has slightly more than non DPF, but it still on 1400kms, would be good if it improves when it gets loosen up....

Cheers

Wonder what was actually changed in the ECU via the re map to start achieving such good fuel ecconomy.
