If the tank is stated as 76 litres you don't know where that level ever was measured from. At beginning of neck? which you can't see, topped to the brim? somewhere in between? You don't really know how much fuel is left.

We hope you are normal and drive like normal people, if flat country then normal for that? hilly terrain? normal for that?

It sems you are driving very carefully, no load and long runs.

In my home country Isuzu Norway did at test last weekend starting from Oslo to see how far they could get on one tank(76L) They ended up quite far up north in the country and the odo stopped at 1602,5 km  :icon_thumleft:

That is pretty good because our roads are quite curvy and mountainous. The car they used was a regular Spacecab 1,9 Blue Power, manual gear. In Europe this engine is tuned at 164 Hp and 360 Nm

This is the route they drove, km are not correct so disregard that.

Wayne,

My 2017 model is also only on its second tank of fuel. By the dash gauge it's getting 11.9 kilometres to the litre (8.4 Litres per 100km) - about 40% city and 60% highway driving.

That seems pretty good and compares slightly more favourably to my similar spec 2010 D-Max.

One thing I have noticed is that when the fuel light came on in my 2010 model, I still had between 20 and 25 litres in the tank (pretty stupid really).

Lucky I didn't assume the same for my new model - filled up soon after the light came on and found that I only had 6 litres left!(both vehicles have a 76 litre tank).

Any issues with the new car? Only one I have is that the steering wheel is not centred when driving on a straight road - the 'T' is slightly tilted clockwise by about 10mm. Hopefully Isuzu will fix it at the 3,000 check.

Sorry not about fuel economy, but the steering wheel off centre is a direct result of the last person who altered your wheel alignment and got the adjusted lengths of the tie rods up the creek.
For some reason people doing wheel alignment seem to have trouble getting it right, even harder for them when the rack is in front, because their brains cannot work in a mirrored sense.

My Spacey has just done 3k and the economy has steadily improved (down to 9.4l/100). It gets a bit better after I take it for a highway run for a minimum half hour and driving like I stole it, but keeping revs below 3000.

Yep - probably.

The last person to adjust the lengths of the tie rods would have been in Thailand!

The vehicle was like that straight from the showroom (has now only done 1,200km). Hopefully they will fix it at the first service.

That is what pre delivery is for, but they do nothing for the money you pay.

I have just clocked up 41 000km on my cab chassis Dmax.  It is unladen 99.9% of the time with no sides.  Fuel usage has hovered around 10L/100km but last week after a lot of highway driving it recorded 9.2L/100km.  That's the best I have ever recorded so maybe the motor is easing up.  I run BFG KM2 tyres which are quite heavy.  A bloke told me that his mileage dropped by a litre/100km after fitting KM2 tyres due to their weight.  I've never come close to figures like 8.2L/100km that others are recording.

Bob, the KM2's will reduce your economy considerably due to rolling resistance.

I use K02's on the MUX and it dropped a good 1ltr per hundred with those. I used KM2's on my Patrol and it dropped a little more.

It has more to do with the size and aggressiveness of the tread more so than the brand of tyre. BFG make a great tyre.

The extra litre per 100km is well worth it considering the performance of the KM2s.  They are without a doubt the best tyre I have ever run.  I absolutely cannot rate them highly enough.  Pricey, but then good things usually are.
