Recovery Aids

(1/2) > >>

Bradman:
Hi All,

What recovery aids, tips or advice do people have or use other than the normal long handled shovel, Maxtrax (or similar), winch and snatch straps for recovering their friends vehicles.

I found this device on the net called Bog -Out (http://www.bogout.com) and was wondering if anyone has used this or seen them being used and what their thoughts on them are.

I was also told by a long time 4 wheel driver that they used shade cloth under the wheels of a bogged vehicle in beach sand to gain traction. I haven't tried this method but am wary of this in case the cloth got picked up by a shaft or axle and tangled in the running gear potentially breaking something.

Any old tried and tested solutions that the more experienced members are willing to share?

We used to carry a couple of old spud bags and an old hemp rope to do similar to the Bogout product on the farm when our farm vehicle was an old Toyota Stout.

A compressor and tyre pressure reduction is about all I can add to your list.....unless you think an inflatable D7 to go with your compressor is a possibility  ;)

Thanks MuxGuys,

I forgot about the compressor and tyre deflator. I normally leave mine in the vehicle permanently so don't have to worry about packing them when getting ready to go offroad.

Interesting comment about the spud bag and rope, I assume this must have worked as generally on farms you have no choice but to make things work.

Hi Britts, great improvisation there. Looks like you had a bit of fun.
