Surely if not at fault, the insurance company will waive the excess. I think you would just have to make a report to the local coppers.

Was thinking more along the lines of the insurance company wanting to get someone to pay for the excess. They will be wanting someone to blame if not the insured :)

Yup Dave only have to report if more than $2500 damage or someone was injured .

Madcap I had a guy deliberately ram my car and run me over , still had to pay the excess regardless of police report . If they never catch them you don't get the excess back . Mind you this was 13 years ago
