I just looked at the Everest Photo again, zooming in you can see the fire truck that put it out;

it definitely looks like its fuel related.

How do you figure?

Well, I am no expert but look at those flames and how quickly the car was gutted by them. He said it started in the bonnet so could be initially electrical but by looking at the pics, its spread very quickly. Anyhow, who really knows just yet!

That's cool Billy. However as Ryjoe touched on the products used in modem day cars are very different to the cars of those in the past. Next time your sitting in your car look around, everything is plastic and foam. These products are highly combustible and burn like the preverbal. An engine bay fire will quickly engulf the whole car particularly if you have good ventilation ie. boot wide open, even with no petrol/diesel involved.

Further to this all Everest's are diesel. Diesel is not flammable, it is however combustible. Petrol is flammable if you wave a match near it she ignites, however diesel must be heated to around 60 degrees before it will burn. Yes it reaches 60 quickly when exposed to fire but it doesn't have the same volatility as Petrol.

Nope Nerang on the Gold Coast. The poor baby only had 15km on the clock too.

I don't know the back story I just saw it on Gumtree from a wrecking yard.

The Ford Erupter wasn't the first fire, been a couple of Ford Ranger bbq's.

And Ford's response is gold, it's your problem and go F$%k yourself.

Wonder if Ford will upgrade the colour range for 2016 - Flame Red, Burnt Orange, Charcoal Grey, Smokey Grey, Black Char, Cauterize Blue.
